Leon Lekaj


Leon Lekaj was born in 1955 in Shkodër, Albania. In 1974 he graduated from the Artistic Lyceum of Music as a Music Teacher. He could not enjoy for long his profession, as his father was prosecuted for his political views against the communist regime. Soon after, Leon was forced into hard labour. In 1991 he returned to his hometown. In 1999 he graduated from the Faculty of Language and Literature. Upon his second graduation he left Albania to emigrate to the Hellenic capital, and lives there since. For political reasons, Leon Lekaj did not publish during the communist regime, but only after the 90s, where the following stand out; the novel ‘Abandoned soul" 2006, the monograph on his father, “An Artist under crossed pentagrams" 2008, the poetry book "Dreaming seasons of return" 2017, as well as the novel "MURANA" in 2021.
